How UK Path Service works
UK Path Service helps you find local service providers and contact them directly. We are starting with Leicester and Leicestershire, and listing providers across the UK as they join. This guide explains how to find a provider, what to check before you hire one, and how providers can join.

Finding a local service provider
How does UK Path Service work?
UK Path Service is an online directory of local service providers. You browse services by category or location, look at provider profiles, and contact the provider you choose directly. UK Path Service does not carry out the work itself - you agree the job, price and timings with the provider.
How do I find a local service provider?
Start from Browse Services and pick the category you need (for example cleaning or a handyman), or start from Browse Locations and pick your town or city. Each page lists the providers who have added that service or area to their profile. You can also search all providers by keyword and area.
How can I find a cleaner or handyman in Leicester?
Open the service category you need and choose Leicester from the list of areas, or open the Leicester location page and pick the service. Providers appear there based on the location in their profile. If none are listed yet for that service, the page will say so rather than showing unrelated providers.
Do I need an account to browse providers?
No. Service pages, location pages and provider profiles are public. Contact details are shown only where the provider has chosen to make them public; where messaging is enabled you can also message the provider through the site.
What should I check before hiring a service provider?
Whoever you hire, a few checks before work starts help avoid problems later:
1. Get a written quote
Ask for the scope of work, total price, what is included and when payment is due, in writing, before work starts.
2. Check registrations required by law
Gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. For electrical work, ask whether the electrician is registered with a competent person scheme so the work can be certified.
3. Ask about insurance
For work in or on your home, ask whether the provider has public liability insurance and what it covers.
4. Look for evidence of past work
Ask for photos of similar jobs or references, and check independent reviews where available.
5. Check company details
If the provider trades as a limited company, you can look it up for free on the Companies House register.
6. Be careful with upfront payments
Avoid paying the full amount in advance. A deposit for materials can be reasonable; agree it in writing.
For service providers
How can a service provider join UK Path Service?
Register as a service provider, complete your profile (services, areas covered, experience and business details) and choose a membership plan. Membership is £4.75 per month with no commission and no pay-per-lead fees, and you can cancel at any time.
Are provider profiles checked before they go live?
Yes. A new or updated profile is submitted for review and only appears publicly once the UK Path Service team has approved it. Approval checks the profile itself; it is not a guarantee of a provider's work, qualifications or insurance, so customers should still make their own checks.
Does UK Path Service guarantee work or leads?
No. UK Path Service provides a public profile, a listing in provider search and access to suggested Tasks and Jobs. It does not guarantee jobs, leads, customers, income or search-engine rankings.
